Blue Ash Man's Art Shines For Summerfair

When Blue Ash resident Michael Holder entered the Summerfair poster contest, he was determined to produce something people would really like to look at.

Holder's poster - which features a cheery line drawing of a sun - has been chosen as this year's winning design and will be used as the marketing centerpiece of Summerfair, which is celebrating its 41st year.

The movie posters competition has been held annually for 31 years.

"When I entered the competition my intention was to create a poster that people would want to hang in their home or office," said Holder, 39, a senior art director at Strata-G Communications, a marketing and communications agency in downtown Cincinnati.

"There are so many great designers who have won in the past, and it's exciting to be a part of that tradition."

Sharon Strubbe, executive director of Summerfair, said, "The judges really liked the clean, organic feel of Michael's design. There were several wonderful designs in the competition this year, but Michael's really stood out."

Holder's Summerfair poster was to have been officially unveiled at Joseph-Beth Booksellers in Rookwood Pavilion in Norwood on April 6. The event was to give Holder a chance to play the star, discussing his design and autographing posters.
