Posters To Confront Drug Abuse

The adverts will appear on billboards and buses and in pubs and shops as part of a national drive to cut drug use, which is being supported by the Northampton Retail Crime Initiative and Pubwatch.

Sergeant Alison Tall, of Northamptonshire Police's Reducing Supply Team, said: "The posters have two different designs and are extremely impactive.

"While the person reading the poster may never have taken drugs in his or her life, they may have a family member or friend who does and whose habit affects them in some way.

"Should they have information as to who is supplying drugs, then they should contact their local police or Crimestoppers. The more information and intelligence we receive, the better we can do in terms of achieving detections and reducing supply.

"We would particularly like to hear from more young people who have information about drug dealing."

The posters will also go on display at Northampton General Hospital and the University of Northampton. To give police information about drug dealing or abuse, text "drugs" and your message to 88010 or call 08453 700700.

Sergeant Tall added: "We would ask the public to contact us with their concerns about drug activity in their community."
