Flashy Referendum Posters Are No Substitute For Facts

Frankly, I am disgusted at the travesty that is the obscene quantity of 'Vote Yes' posters which have littered our lampposts in the past week in an attempt to convince us, the Irish electorate, to support the Lisbon Treaty.

I find the manner in which these movie posters were erected to be devious and disrespectful, especially where they invade neighbourhoods, rearing their ugly heads as eyesores on both sides of the road.

Perhaps the millions already spent on the 'Yes' side of this wholly biased referendum campaign might have been better spent explaining the treaty to us? It seems fitting since 47 per cent of the Irish electorate don't know what the Lisbon Treaty is about. We reserve our democratic right to say no to what we either don't understand or disagree with, and no amount of indoctrination by flashy posters should convince us otherwise.
