Posters To Be Used In Crackdown On Speeding Motorists
They will tell drivers how to spot an area with a 30mph limit when there are no signs.
It follows speed enforcement action and speeding research carried out by the March & District neighbourhood policing team. The movie posters have been funded through the Fenland Safer Partnership and will initially be put up in Elm Road, March
Sergeant Alan Boughen said: "One area of concern highlighted by the community at March panel meetings and engagement sessions is speeding.
"The neighbourhood team has been carrying out enforcement checks and remote monitoring of traffic speed and we have found that the majority of vehicles are driven at speeds inappropriate for the location or prevailing road or weather conditions.
"There are also some locations where we found significant speeding problems. These locations will continue to be subject of frequent speed enforcement checks.
"In addition to this we need to educate drivers and funding has been secured for temporary posters to be placed within areas affected by speeding.
"The posters state that roads with street lights and no other speed signs means they are subject to a 30mph limit.
"Drivers also need to remember that speed limits are only an indication of maximum permissible speed - it is the driver's responsibility to drive at a speed safely according to the conditions and hazards.
