Mayor Unruffled By Posters
Mayor Harvey Rosen said yesterday that he figured the posters were made by someone who "wanted to show off their Photoshop skills."
The black-and-white posters show a near-profile view of Rosen from the shoulders up, but with long black hair similar to portraits of Jesus.
The lower half of the poster has the words "false messiah" on a diagonal with Rosen's name underneath.
A crudely drawn-on goatee on Rosen's face accompanies some of the posters.
Rosen said he didn't know who put up the posters in the residential area. Rosen said he didn't think it was an organized effort and chalked it up to a lone individual.
"I think they were rather peculiar," Rosen said.
"I want to get one off in one piece to keep in my scrapbook."
The posters have been up for a few days and were glued to postal boxes in a small area of Sydenham district, near the west campus of Queen's University.
Three such posters were still stuck to a grey mailbox at the corner of Earl and Willingdon streets yesterday afternoon.
Police said they received phone complaints about the posters and sent officers to investigate.
