Lake George Tourism Advertising Campaign Targets New York City Subway Riders

Some of the millions of straphangers in New York City's subway system will see an ad in July promoting tourism in the Lake George region.

The Warren County Tourism Department produced two 46-inch-by-60-inch posters with idyllic summer scenes on the lake to promote the resort village in the Adirondacks.

The movie posters will hang on subway platforms in 13 stations from uptown to Wall Street for four weeks beginning June 30.

"When commuters see the beauty of the nearby vacation destination, they will be prompted to bring up the web site www.VisitLakeGeorge.com on their laptop and plan a getaway" said Kate Johnson, director of the tourism bureau.

Johnson said the campaign will cost about $2,000.

A couple of years ago the tourism bureau had an outdoor advertising campaign in New York City that featured a video-only commercial on an illuminated billboard in Times Square during Thanksgiving.
