Basildon Council Kids Recycling Poster Competition
Basildon Council is challenging the district's primary school pupils to design giant movie posters to promote its recycling services.
Five winning youngsters will have their designs blown up and spread across the side of the council's recycling trucks - each of which will then be named after the artists.
The competition will involve pupils being challenged to create a slogan, by completing the sentence "Recycling is important because..." They also have to create a poster to underline their message. Pupils can work enter either on their own, or in small teams.
Entries will also be accepted from Scout groups, and other children's community groups.
Terri Sargent, councillor responsible for the environment, said: "This is a great way to spread the word about recycling and get young people into the habit."
The competition runs until the end of March.
