All Partners With Shen Students For Poster Design

For the second year, the Academy for Lifelong Learning at Saratoga Springs has hired Sally Way's graphic design class at Shenendehowa High School to design posters and related materials.

This year, the students were challenged to create images to publicize the Academy's fall membership campaign.

For several years, students in the class have been designing materials for area nonprofit organizations free of charge.

The students receive practical work experience and the nonprofits gain beautifully designed brochures, movie posters, business cards, etc.

A.L.L. representatives, Executive Director Jo-Ellen Unger and membership committee members Catherine Paulson and Cammie Clancy have met with the class to present the specifics of the project and to hear the presentations of the students of their finished posters.

Now the committee will have the difficult task of choosing just one of the many excellent entries. The committee will meet with the students a final time to give feedback on all of the submissions and announce the chosen design, which most meets the project guidelines and purpose.

This intergenerational partnership has been so rewarding for both groups that A.L.L. has already requested the students' assistance on another project during the 2009 - 10 school year.
