Local Students Participate In Alcohol Awareness Month
But some South Bend and Mishawaka students are helping spread the message to not give in.
Students from 14 of the area's middle and high schools were honored Thursday for their participation in Alcohol Awareness Month.
The kids created movie posters focused on the theme "stop and think, most kids don't drink."
The winner, Marty Gerencser, says he wants his poster to help guide younger students into making good choices.
"Maybe they'll see that and say, 'well if I get caught drinking I'm paying the price for it, and maybe if I wanna drink, I'll just wait until I'm older or of age to drink,'" Gerencser explained.
As part of winning the contest, Transpo has agreed to display Marty's winning poster on their buses for the rest of the month.
