Film Producers To Pay For Posters On Walls

Film posters defacing the walls of Bangalore will cost producers dear.

In a drive that can embarrass the film industry, BBMP has started filing cases against producers whose posters are pasted on any available space on public walls.

Over a week, nearly 10 producers have been slapped notices and cases filed under IPC and provisions of Karnataka Open Place Disfigurement Act.

On Thursday, BBMP authorities of west zone filed cases against producers of Kannada films 'Ullasa Utsaha' and 'Jamaaisi Chindi Udaaisi'. "Film posters are pasted on every wall, flyovers and underpass, thus defacing the city. The film industry never sought permission for such acts. Now that sticking posters have been banned, this is a crime. We will crack down on everyone who dirties city walls,'' officials said.

Recently, cases were registered against the producers of 'Vayuputra', 'Hushaar', 'Zuari' and several advertising companies who used walls for painting their billboards. Among them is Veta which had advertised for English classes.

Cases will be booked under Karnataka Open Place Disfigurement Act. The court will take a decision on the violators and suitable penalty will be levied. The government has come out with guidelines on putting up banners and cut-outs during political events, which shouldn't be kept for more than a day.
