Doors Janis Joplin And Jimi Hendrix Exhibit

The Grammy Museum will open its third major special exhibition on April 5. The show is called "Strange Kozmic Experience: The Doors, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix."

The exhibit will offer visitors the chance to see over sixty different artifacts and rare photographs, taken from various collections and never before displayed together. These include lyrics and letters, wardrobe pieces, original paintings by Joplin, Jim Morrison's unseen journals, Joplin's custom-painted 1965 Cabriolet, and items such as ticket stubs, movie posters, memorabilia and posters.

Says Robert Santelli, Museum Executive Director and music historian, "Forty years later, the music of the Doors, Joplin, and Hendrix still resonate in rock circles and popular culture, an enduring testimony to the power and freedom of 1960s rock."

The museum will also hold an April 7 screening of the Johnny Depp-narrated documentary about the Doors, called When You're Strange.
