Pink Power Project Planned For Saturday

The Junior League of Springfield will kick off its first Done in a Day Project for the 2010-11 league year by helping the Boys & Girls Town of Missouri with its Pink Power Project from 7:30 to 11 a.m. on Saturday.

The Boys and Girls Town of Missouri helps children who have suffered from abuse, neglect, emotional or behavior problems. During their stay at Boys & Girls Town, children receive all aspects of care, ranging from physical to emotional.

The Pink Power Project will help the young women at Boys & Girls Town learn about their self image, developing bodies and breast health.

Young women attending the Pink Power Project will be treated to a pancake breakfast and listen to information on breast health.

The girls will then learn how to measure and find the proper bra fit.

Junior League volunteers will also help the girls create life-sized posters of themselves for their bedrooms by tracing an outline of their bodies on paper. The girls will decorate the movie posters with positive traits about themselves that the JLS volunteers help them discover.
