Flyers And Posters Descend On Edinburgh
Edinburgh City Central Library is providing a haven for unwanted promotional flyers and actually encouraging people to hand their flyers in so that they can form part of their collection of festival and theatre memorabilia. The Edinburgh Room's collection features movie posters and flyers from past performances including up and coming names at the time such as a Peter Cook, Dudley Moore and a young Billy Connolly. Their collection dates back as far as 1947.
Others trying to avoid their posters and flyers becoming lost in the sea of garish advertising that can be plastered all over Edinburgh during August include the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising who are promoting a comedy show as part of the Edinburgh International Marketing Festival. The IPA commissioned Edinburgh based creative agency, Newhaven, to come up a poster design to advertise 'The Ads Game' which will run for one night at the end of August. The poster uses a black and white storyboard format which Newhaven hoped would look fresh and engage people amidst the onslaught of colour and advertising that can be seen around Edinburgh at the moment.
