Will U. K. sense Scissor Sisters always reduce it here at house

Jason Sellards says that, geting upward, "I was a strange child; I was, like, in dangerous demand of care."

This isn't an unexpected admittance. As Jake Shears, the relentlessly exhibitionistic vocalist and pinup son for Scissor Sisters, he shakes his little, much befeathered shoulders and prances across the level, needing that everybody link the company. Their medicine is 1970s best multiplication whole over again: Think of Elton John if he'd been healthy to don David Bowie's knickers. Their best murder was a disco-y remake of, of all matters, "Comfortably Numb," by Pink Floyd - and they weren't making play of it. On September 10, their just-released, misleadingly styled only, "I Don't Feel Like Dancin'," now knocked Justin Timberlake's "SexyBack" off the side of the U. K. charts. The mayor of London have them found their other album, Ta-Dah, by being over Trafalgar Square for a concert. Their early book came out of nowhere two days ago and sold 2. 4 million copies in Britain.

Ta-Dah isn't about equally breathlessly expected backwards house. Sellards is even living in the fourth-floor walk-up off Avenue B he doed into backward when he was a server at Leshko's. "My living is then often same to what it was two days ago," he says. Timberlake, in a fresh T-shirt, is on the back of Rolling Stone, while Sellards must be make with vamping in a sheer blouse on the back of following month's Out. Scissor Sisters have been stuck in a pack hall to the great second here. Wal-Mart wouldn't still carry their best album because of the lyrics. But glam-friendly U. K. fans saw them as one of their personal.

Scissor Sisters are, still, a New York lot, a production of the mostly colorful demimonde of sexed-up downtown dream that somehow endures the de-bohemianization of the Lower East Side and Williamsburg. Sellards is the complete cause work for the precious, hyper area son who came to the important metropolis to be it.He grew upward on an island in the Puget Sound, where, as his associate the advice columnist Dan Savage order it, "there wasn't a set of input. " Savage foremost got to experience him when he was 15 and named in to his wireless display in Seattle to need about doing away to his mommy. "People have ever form of emerged at a time in his living when he taked it," Savage says. "He's magical and attractive. You seek to defend him. "

"I named Stephen King at a very new years - likely when I was 10 and covering behind couches," Sellards says. We're walking to the bodega near his flat to get Cheeseburger, his turtle, some cabbage. "And Cronenberg. When Naked Lunch came away in film theaters, I was there. That was like one of those moments where - you know how when you're very small and you control matters that you shouldn't control and it very scars you for living? I sought those matters away."

"Horror movies and Disney: He doesn't find the change," says Savage. "If you seem at the material in his flat, you'd think, Portrait of a Serial Killer. "

And, in fact, walk in, you're fronted with an overnight hall of large movie posters in French, before you go a chamber with but sufficient way for a bottom and question into a little life way, where he sits downward in half-lotus on the level and rolls cigarettes while making us mind to a CD of bad Polish dancing medicine. Over the flat-screen TV is an important neon Hollywood Babylon lip carving by Kenneth Anger. The face board has photos of his mother with Bono and him with Elizabeth Taylor.

Eventually, he doed to New York to read fable writing. "Seattle's a little township," Sellards says. " I either needed to publish books or be medicine or publish movies or something - I only needed to make something. " So he took upward go-go dance at a small, seedy, now-defunct East Village colorful saloon seed IC Guys. "My popular Jason account is that I went to see him in New York and he was about to make a porn sprout and he was like, 'It's then strange!' " says Savage. "And I talked him out of it. Now he thanks me." Still, he geted in a jockstrap and crewman's cap for Butt clip alongside enthusiastic testimonials by five guys who'd dated him.
